Spring Highway Cleanup has to be postponed until the weather settles down. Not only are the ditches full of water, but the highway has been flooded.

Funnel Cake Trailer

On Monday, April 21, a Matins crew began the job of cleaning, repairing, and generally preparing the trailer to be ready to sell our funnel cakes. President Kester went on an 11.5 hour trip to St. Louis and back to pick up 1,000 lbs. of funnel cake flour. Some additional work remains to be done, but it looks like we will be ready for our first date, the Garden Extravaganza on Saturday, May 3, in downtown Marshalltown. Then it’s off to the Iowa Veterans Home on Tuesday, May 20.

Membership

Membership Chairman Keith Bloomquist has been organizing a recruitment drive to begin the week of April 28, with the goal of signing up at least five new members.

Jim Hickie was selected as March’s Matin of the Month. Jim comes early on Thursday mornings and is always ready to help with setup, selling raffle tickets, or anything else that needs to be done. He is also our Vice-President and chairman of the Young Children: Priority One committee.
